Saint Nicholas

Saint Nicholas was born on March 15th, 270 A.D , in Patara of Lycia (moderm Gelemis , Tyrkey) by faithful Christians and educated parents and was well educated himself. After distributing all of his belongings to the poor and needy, he was ordained a Priest and put  every possible effort forth in evangelizing the Christian falth, while concurrently, protecting the weak, ill or needy. His placing at the archiepiscopal throne of Myrrha of Lycia (Modern Demre, Tyrkey) angered the pagan believers, who arrested and tortured him. Saont Nicholas was taken out of prison after Constantine the Great  became the emperor and concentrated on his ecclesiastical duties. Saint Nicholas participated in the works of the 1st Ecumenical Council of Nicaea (325 A.D ) which was concluded by the declaration of the main articles of the Creed of Falth as well as the condemnation of the heresy by Arius. Saint Nicholas passed away in peace on December 6ht, 343 A.D. After his passing from this life, he was given the name myrovlitis ( he who gushes our myrrh) because hia holy relics started gushing out holy myrrh. God has performed and is still performing many miracles via Saint Nicholas, who is venerated on December 6th.
